Now Is The Time To Celebrate You ✨

Time is ticking! Every hour, minute, second of each day we are absorbed with accomplishing goals. But are you taking the time out to celebrate your small victory’s or just life in general?

For me, I’ve been focused on building two brands, working a full time job and taking care of an active 12 year old, so celebrating anything was usually last on my list.

But I realize the benefits of celebrating life. Taking the time out to just have fun and just reflecting on how much I’ve grown has really help with my mental. After a fun night out, I return back to working on my goals, with a clearer mind, boost of self confidence, happy, and ready to take on the world.

We have to keep in mind that life is a gift , relish it, celebrate it, explore it and dance with it. Have fun with it and celebrate those small victories. The sooner you practice celebrating life, the sooner life will celebrate you.

Pick one thing that you enjoy, even if it’s as simple as walking on the beach. Tomorrow, pick something else you will enjoy and do that. If you keep doing things you enjoy, soon you’ll have a handful of “celebrations” you can pick from every day. The goal is to create a habit of celebrating life, not to wait.

Here are some tips to help you celebrate life:

  • Start every day with a smile. (And give thanks to God for another day!)
  • Reflect on the positive things in your life.
  • Tell that special person that you love them.
  • Celebrate the everyday things that you might take for granted.

The sooner you decide to “just do it” and start celebrating the little things, your big picture will begin to look brighter. All those little celebrations will add up to a happier life.

How I’ve Learn To Embrace Insecurities

I’ve never felt so good about writing a blog post like I do with this one. Blogs are the modern day diaries or journals that can be shared with the world. When I decided to relaunch my blog, I knew I wanted to not only share my fashionable looks but I also wanted to be an inspiration to all and to be relatable.

As a woman, I believe being more sensitive, to have those insecurities haunt us in the back of our minds is in our DNA. With the age of social media such Instagram and Facebook, we often compare ourselves to others, often feeling like we aren’t good enough or pretty enough.

Fortunately for me, over the years, I’ve learned how to embrace my insecurities and to not compare myself to others. I found ways to practice self love instead of picking apart every thing that is wrong with me. Reminding myself that MY IMPERFECTIONS IS WHAT MAKES ME MOST BEAUTIFUL.

Recently, I embraced an insecurity that I have and actually now look at it as a representation of motherhood, it’s stretch marks. I was the young mom at the pools and beaches fully covered. I use to spend hours trying to find the right bathing suit that will cover up all the right areas,

forcing me to opt out of attending any events that I would have to wear a bathing suit. But the beauty in baring a child, being a wonderful mother, the unconditional love I have for my son is what I think about when I look in the mirror.

Our beautiful starts within us all and for me that is what truly matters. I am PERFECTLY IMPERFECT AND I LOVE MYSELF FOR IT.

Think of one insecurity you have and now think of how you can embrace it with positive thoughts. Self love is something that we all should work on daily. LOVE WHO YOU ARE. LOVE WHAT YOU ARE. LOVE HOW YOU LOOK. DO THE WORK!

How To Deal With Self-Doubt

Despite being reminded by an enormous amount of evidence that I shouldn’t dare doubt myself, I still do. I sometimes allow my inner self to convince me that what I have to offer isn’t good enough. So the big question is, how can one over come the struggles of self-doubt?

As a women who is also black, the thoughts of not being good enough have been hard wired in our brain for years. It will take a lot of hard work to over come self doubt. Now you’re probably thinking “what if I achieve all of my goals,” shouldn’t that build my confidence? Unfortunately, the answer is no. Those achievements just bring on new fears and doubts. You will have to work on the inner YOU.

Here are ways I try to overcome my self-doubt:

1. Loving your self- Take YOURSELF out on a date. Do things that YOU like to do alone. If that means taking a 4 hour bath weekly, go for it. Go to the movies. Go out of town. Be comfortable with some “me time”

2.Dress to Impress- (My favorite tip) I always say “when you look like good, you feel good!”

3. Treat yourself to gifts- I mean I get it, who doesn’t love surprised from a loved one BUT sometimes its just as satisfying, if not more to just treat yourself.

4.Kiss yourself goodnight- Sounds crazy, right?! Well I don’t mean literally. Come up with a night ritual that will put a premium on self love. For me, I whisper an affirmation prior to going to bed.

Now these tips probably would work overnight but its a great start. Working on yourself to be the best version of yourself should always be a goal we work towards.

Denim Shorts

What do you think about when you think of denim shorts?

I think of outdoor events, beach days, summer fun, etc. Living in the sunny South Florida, my “Go-to” denim shorts are always first choice to not only endure the scorching heat but to look stylish as well. But If you’re like me, you too have difficulties in finding the perfect pair of denim shorts. I need the waist small enough so that a belt isn’t needed, but big enough to cover all of my goods. The perfect shorts can be found at H&M. Sometimes you will have to go up a size but once you find your right size it’s a great fit. Not only are they affordable but they have a great stretch and comfortable denim material.

Although they are not the most sophisticated article of clothing, you should definitely have a couple of pairs in your wardrobe. So how can you style your denim shorts? You can pair your denim shorts with a crop top, T-shirt’s, over size graphic tee, blazer, or even add a fun element by pairing with net tights.

Girls Just Want To Have Fun ..

Do you get caught up in something called “adulting” and forget to just live and have fun?

When you work 40 or more hours a week, it sometimes feels like life turns into a routine. We all have responsibilities such as kids, bills, and more bills, making it easy to forget to take care of you. Yep, sounds like adulting to me. Though there is no escaping the reality of life, science encourages that we need to make time for fun and should perhaps prioritize it.

Hanging with friends and family, shopping, watching your favorite TV show, or reading a book are all great ideas of leisure activities. The health benefits associated with some fun are nothing short of amazing. Having fun will reduce stress levels, boost your energy, help improve sleep patterns, and help improve your relationships both at work and home.

When life and responsibilities are occupying all of your time and energy, take a moment to remember that your happiness matters too.💕

The Iconic..Coco Chanel

Fashion fades, only style remains the same. – Coco Chanel

Gabrielle Bonheur “Coco” Chanel story is a classic rags-to-riches tale that’s now inspiration to us all. When her mother died, Chanel at age 12, was left in circumstances that can only be described as dire (think orphanages and extreme poverty). However, the placement in the orphanage may have been the best thing for Coco’s future because it is where she learned to sew. Pulling herself up from her bootstraps, Chanel worked as a seamstress by day and a cabaret singer/dancer by night.

Various twists of fate and personal connections helped Chanel launch a career that began modestly. She was a hat-maker and a boutique owner before becoming a bonafide fashion designer. And the rest, as they say, is history. Chanel brought us everything from pencil skirts and tweed suits to the cardigan jacket and menswear redesigned to flatter a woman’s body.

Gabrielle Bonheur “Coco” Chanel story will forever be an inspiration to me. She took an unfortunate situation and turned it to a successful inspirational situation. I firmly believe that you can not have a testimony with a test first. When we are being tested it’s only because something greater is brewing for you. Dream big. Work hard. Never give up.

What’s The Tee?!

Shall we enter a staple of the modern, youthful wardrobe??!: the graphic tee…

Graphic tees make statements like, “I desire to fit in” or “I’m a part of subculture.” Your wardrobe should consist of a few graphic tees. Be fashionable yet make your statement conveying political sentiments, social desires, cultural tastes, branding, etc. What’s a better way to get a message out other than being a walking message.

I chose to make the statement that I am a fan of the hip hop culture by wearing a graphic tee with Christopher “Biggie Smalls” Wallace. By pairing with just boots, a cute little bag and accessories, Ive created a chic sexy stylish look for the culture. ✊🏾

The 22nd death anniversary of Biggie Smalls, the voice that influences a generation, just passed on March 9th. His legacy and music still lives on till this day.
